At Sacred Heart College, our Chaplaincy is dedicated to making known the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, serving as a beacon of spiritual guidance and support for our community.

Our Chaplaincy not only aims to make known the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus but also seeks to emphasise the Sacred Heart Goals of:

Ethos Induction

Students who join the College in Year 7 and new staff members are welcomed into our community through an Ethos Induction. This helps them to familiarise themselves with the values and principles that guide our College.

Collaboration and Support

Our dedicated Chaplain, Miss Bernadette Sammut Briffa, collaborates closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and staff members as necessary, ensuring that spiritual guidance and support are readily available to all. Our Chaplain is always available! Whether you need a prayer or simply wish to speak to someone, Ms Ben is always there to listen and support.

Student Engagement

In the Senior School, we have Student Ethos Representatives from each class who meet regularly with the Chaplain, providing valuable insights and fostering a deeper connection between students and the Chaplaincy.

Open Chapel

Our Chapel is a sanctuary open to all members of our community from 7 am onwards, offering a peaceful space for reflection, prayer, and spiritual growth.

At Sacred Heart College, our Chaplaincy plays an active role in fostering spiritual growth and community engagement through a variety of activities and celebrations throughout the year.

Monthly Masses

Masses are held monthly in both the Senior School and Junior School, serving as a cornerstone of our spiritual life at the College.

Special Assemblies and Celebrations

In the Junior School, special assemblies led by the Year Group teams are held for the Feasts of the Society of the Sacred Heart. Additionally, the College as a whole comes together to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception by praying the Rosary and having an open-air Mass.

Adoration and Eucharistic Days

In the Junior School, classes visit the Chapel for Adoration of the Eucharist around 4 times a year. Similarly, the Senior School hosts Eucharistic Days in May.

Lenten Activities

During Lent, the Junior School offers Prayer Spaces and Lenten Retreats, while the Senior School engages in a Christ Encounter, a Lenten Talk, and a Reflection Day on the last day of the second term.

Special Commemorations

In June, our Year 2 students commemorate their First Holy Communion, the Year 6 learners attend their Farewell Mass, and our Year 11 students participate in their School Leaving Mass.

Guest Speakers

We also invite speakers from Catholic organizations such as Caritas, Life Network, Missio Tfal, and JRS to speak to our students whenever possible, enriching their understanding and engagement with the broader Catholic community.

All staff and students at the College join in these upbuilding activities as we come together as one community in faith, love, and service at Sacred Heart College.
