Sacred Heart Schools in Ireland, Scotland, Malta, England and Austria shared stories of their projects in environmental sustainability and social justice. The aim was to foster collaboration among the fifteen participating Sacred Heart Schools by sharing and adopting successful practices that promote the Sacred Heart mission priority of Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation (JPIC).
This project invited schools to participate in an exchange of postcards that detailed three successful actions they have implemented to address environmental care or social justice. Actions that showed their faith-based values in action. Each school reviewed the shared initiatives, and committed to adopting new actions from the suggestions.
Creative ways to use leftover food, cycle training, pilgrim walks, planting for pollinators and art that inspires action were among the wonderful ideas listed. Thanks to all those who worked so hard to inspire the projects, share the stories and consider future actions.
